THE 8th ANNUAL
STELLA YELLING CONTEST!
The annual Stella, Blues, and BBQ is scheduled for Saturday, March 26th , from 3pm to 11pm at the Bay St. Louis Little Theatre on Blaize Avenue. Sponsored by the Silver Slipper and the Bay St. Louis Little Theatre.
Phil Williams and his well-known, delicious BBQ will open the event at 3pm in front of the Little Theatre. The Raw Oyster Marching Club will be kicking off the festivities.
Then one of the community's favorite traditions, the Stella Yelling Contest, will begin at 4pm under the balcony of the Little Theatre. Contestants are not limited to gender or age. All participants are welcome. Each contestant should be prepared to give their best Stanley Kowalski "STELLA!!!” yell to the Little Theatre Stella. Stanley and Stella are characters of the Tennessee Williams play "A Streetcar Named Desire.” The entry fee is $10. This year there will be cash prizes. First prize will be $150 and a trophy, second prize is $100, and third is $50. The contest is incorporated into the Stella, Blues and BBQ celebration. Entrants must register on site before 3:30pm on March 26th.
The Little Theatre holds the contest every year and performs one of Tennessee Williams' plays to celebrate his birthday. This year the play is "The Rose Tattoo.”
